East Rockaway is a village in Nassau County, New York. It is located just east of the Five Towns area on the southern shore of Long Island. It Is bordered by Oceanside on the east, Bay Park on the south, Hewlett Harbor on the west, and Lynbrook on the north. The village is for the most part a middle-class suburban community. , the population was approximately 10,000. The village was originally called “Near Rockaway” before having its name changed to “East Rockaway" in 1869.
