Malverne is a village in Nassau County. It is located in the Town of Hempstead on the Southern Shore of Long Island. On its western side is Valley Stream, to the south is Lynbrook, to the east is Baldwin, and to the north is Franklin Square. , the village population was estimated at 8,570. Malverne covers a total area of one square mile. Malverne was originally spelt “Malvern” without the “e”. The word means “bare hill” in Welsh. However, the Long Island Rail Road mistakenly added the “e” and it became permanent. Malverne was officially incorporated as a village on April 13, 1921.
