It is located on the North Shore of Long Island, approximately thirty five miles northeast of Central Park in Manhattan., the village has an estimated 1,000 residents. The name “Mill” comes from a mill that was constructed in the area by Henry Townsend in 1661. “Neck” comes from the physical location of the village. It juts out north into the Oyster Bay Harbor like a “neck”. The village was incorporated in 1925. Mill Neck is surrounded by water on the north and east, Locust Valley on the west, and Upper Brookville on the south. The village has a total area of 2.94 square miles.
